Located conveniently on S Virginia Dare Trail, this spot masterfully blends classic American comfort food with a sweet, nostalgic twist that keeps locals and visitors coming back time and time again.
Though known primarily for their rich, creamy ice cream and delightful sweet treats, Fatboyz surprises with a hearty menu of specialty burgers and hot dogs that don’t just fill you up—they satisfy cravings on a deep, soulful level. The Bacon Cheeseburger, layered with crispy bacon, American cheese, fresh lettuce, and tomato, delivers a perfect marriage of smoky and savory. For those seeking bold flavors, the Chili Cheeseburger, loaded with homemade chili and melted American cheese, feels like a warm embrace on a casual beach day. Meanwhile, the Bacon Swiss Burger combines smoky bacon, creamy Swiss cheese, and grilled mushrooms and onions for an earthy, indulgent bite.
If burgers aren’t your calling, Fatboyz offers an array of all-beef hotdogs that speak to classic roadside Americana—with inventive twists like the Garbage Dog, piled high with mustard, onions, chili, cheese, and slaw, or the zesty Big Mama Dog featuring jalapeño relish to add a kick. Each menu item oozes with flavor, and the prices make it easy to savor more than one.
Of course, the ice cream here is what truly steals the spotlight. Choose from creamy soft serve cones, decadent chocolate dip tops (served in kid, small, large, or waffle sizes), and refreshing mango sorbets that cater to dairy-free needs without compromising taste. The waffle cones are especially recommended—crispy, golden, and perfectly sweet, they cradle the ice cream like a delicate treasure. Customers rave about the speed and friendliness of the staff, who go the extra mile to craft custom cones exactly as pictured or requested.
The open-air, casual atmosphere fuels the classic beach-town vibe. While there isn’t indoor seating, the covered picnic tables provide a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy your treats, surrounded by the gentle coastal breeze and the sounds of joyful chatter. Though parking can sometimes be a challenge, thoughtful customers suggest walking from nearby spots or even parking by the pier and enjoying a few minutes’ stroll to build anticipation for the deliciousness that awaits.

When the local ice cream spot is Fatboyz, you go. Yes the line can be long. But it’s worth it. Parking isn’t the greatest, so walk if you are close or even park at the pier maybe and walk over.

The two ladies (one blonde and one brunette) we interacted with are friendly and fast. I really liked the ice cream we got. Showed a picture to the one employee with brown hair of the cone I was looking for and she recreated it so well! Wait can be a bit long but so so worth it. There is a ramp for wheelchairs and strollers, and a few stairs. Plenty of seating on booth or tables options. They also have connect four games to play. I would recommend you check it out. For three people who ordered sundaes and cones - about $30 both times we went.

The ice cream was tasty - we had a large cup with cookies and cream ice cream and a waffle cone with strawberry ice cream. Both were good and came out pretty quickly. They have a lot of choices: flurries, soft serve, ice cream, snow cones, etc. Fun treat in the heat

Wanted to go to Fatboyz to grab a burger. I was not dissapointed. The burger was much bigger than expected and tasted great! (Pictured below). Glad they had a dairy free option for dessert. My wife got a mango sorbet which was excellent. I had a few bites of this. We had some fries as well which were quite yummy and added some crunch to the quick meal. There is no inside seating, which was expected. Of course since you sit outside There may be some pesky flies which is expected when you eat food outside. I don't see why you would penalize them for something that cannot be controlled. Our wait was not long either. I would like to return in the future. Enjoy!

We were lucky enough to stay on Virginia Dare Trail so we walked here on 2 separate occasions. We enjoyed soft serve cones and milkshakes. We were lucky to have quick service when we went. They have a covered area with picnic tables to enjoy the goodies right there.

Not a bad ice cream spot! We showed up at 4pm and walked right up. It's pretty good, somewhat nostalgic to us. I recommend stopping by and trying it if your in the area, of course go with the waffle cone!
